Like the commercial touts: The best part of waking up, is an array of delicious breads and pastries, the likes of which you've never seen. Or something like that...
I can unequivocally declare that my new favorite thing in the world is turtle bread. It's a kind of coffee bun with a crisp exterior but an unbelievably soft and buttery center. You can find this and more at this wonderful little bakery I visited called Toujours. Apparently it was started by famous pastry chef who studied in france, but the real treat of this place is the atmosphere.
Sitting on the higher deck, listening to the subtle piano backdrop, staring out into the tiny forest of exotic trees with coffee in hand. It's something out of one those timeshare brochures that's too good to be true. Not a bad way to spend a morning.

While strolling along, we happened across some local carnival games. Of course me and Mr. Lee jumped at the chance to test our sharp shooting abilities. Not to toot my own horn, but I wasn't too shabby. boom, pow, badaboom! 100 points! 200 points! 210! points! miss. miss... you get the idea... Of course Mr. Lee outshot me by 100 points, but the real twist came when Soobin took the gun. One by one, she hit every target. It was then I realized I should be nicer to my girlfriend.

While most of the ship remained untouched since the war, they have repurposed part of the deck into a sleek new cafe for the public.
Okay, okay, we've all seen the movie. Foreigner visits far off country and stumbles into a busy market place. It's full of unfamiliar sights and sounds, there's a merchant in the corner selling creepy crawlies on a stick, and you can be sure a chase scene will ensue. Well. Trite as it may be, let me tell you that walking into the fish market was like walking into another world. one filled with hustle and bustle, odd and unique creatures as scary as they are silly, and an array of colorful characters manning the stalls, trying to sell you their fish.
but I wasn't the only fish out of water down at the market. you would be hard pressed to find anything that wasn't still alive and flipping. I often saw cuddle fish swimming from their open containers into the octopus bin, no doubt putting their daring escape into action.
What doesn't come across on camera, is just how colossal some of these creatures are. I was lucky enough to meet a fiesty king crab in one of the bigger tanks. By the looks of it, he'd just escaped the set of the next godzilla movie. I'm so happy I was able to visit the fish market, which at times felt more like a well stocked aquarium. It was a once in a lifetime experience that i'll never forget.
In the video below, you can see one of the vendor's collecting an assortment of fish for us to eat. Now that's as fresh as it gets.
After picking out our fish, they were skilfully diced into appetizing dishes. While I'm not that keen on eating fish, I can't help but appreciate the craft that goes into making such a feast. The lady working in the market ushered us (as well as our haul) a nearby elevator and down we went.
walked into a small vestibule where we removed our shoes. It's been a while since i've assumed the criss-cross applesauce position, but even I had to admit eating on a table so close to the floor was a relaxing experience (Mrs. Lee told me I could stretch my legs under the table, which really helped).
